TURN YOUR RUTS INTO RESTS

Now matter how hard we try, or how good a thing is going, we all eventually fall into a rut. Many people put a lot of thought into how to stop this from happening, or wondering how it happens. The truly important thing is to learn how to handle ruts when they inevitably come up in our lives.

There are basically two ways you should deal with the periodic loss of get-up-and-go.

1) USE THE TIME TO REST

We all need a break from time to time. The best time is when you’re in a rut. Step back, think about all you’ve accomplished so far, and relax. Don’t think about all you have to do, or wish you could do. Put your energy into a fun activity that you enjoy. Your inspiration will come back to you.

2) WORK HARD WHEN YOU’RE INSPIRED

It is important to work as hard as you can while you’re inspired. That way, when a loss of motivation does arise, you have done so much you definitely feel like you’ve EARNED that rest.

The world is changing every day, and the way we live/social norms are much different than they were 40 years ago.  We don’t have to sit in an office from 9 to 5 every day in order to accomplish our goals.  Inspiration doesn’t have a schedule, so you need to ride the waves as they come, not try to fit them into a time construct centered around an out-dated version of how society should work.
